Help! I Broke My Keyboard Key and Superglued It Down

I recently had an accident where I tossed my phone onto my keyboard, and it hit the G4 key hard enough to snap it off. In a moment of poor judgment, I tried to superglue the key back on without realizing that the glue would end up sticking the key in the down position. My keyboard is a Corsair K100, and I'm not in a position to spend money on a new one right now. Is there a way to remove the superglue without damaging the keyboard further?

Depending on what type of superglue you used, rubbing alcohol might help to dissolve it. If that doesn’t work, nail polish remover could be your next best option. Just be careful and test it on a small area first!

Isn't rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover gonna damage the keyboard, though?

Man, at this point, you can't really ruin something that's already broken. Superglue is super strong, but it sounds like it might be a lost cause unless you want to keep the G4 key pressed down forever. Just a heads up for next time: keys should never need glue!

Yeah, I get that now. It's just frustrating since the keyboard still works aside from that one key, but it's gonna bug me if I don't fix it.

Seriously though, keycaps just snap on. You really didn’t need glue for this, my dude.

I wish I had known that about 40 minutes ago! Thanks for the tip.

Lol, this is quite the situation you got yourself into. Just remember that keycaps don’t need glue!
