Help! I Keep Getting a Blue Screen When Trying to Enter Safe Mode

I just upgraded my GPU and I'm trying to run Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to clean out the old drivers. However, every time I attempt to boot into safe mode, I encounter a blue screen with a recovery message. It says:

"Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.

File: \windows\system32\winload.efi

Error code: 0xc0000098."

The options I get are to press Enter to try again, F1 to enter the Recovery Environment, F8 for Startup Settings, or Esc to boot normally into Windows 11. When I hit Esc, I just go back to my regular Windows setup. I'm really at a loss here. Can anyone help me sort this out?

It sounds like your bootloader file might be missing or corrupted. You could check out some YouTube tutorials that walk you through the steps to repair the boot file. They usually provide some useful commands to execute that might help you get it sorted out.

Before diving into repairs, make sure to backup your data if you can access Windows. If you're completely stuck, a bootable USB drive with the Windows installation media could be the way to go. This will let you access repair tools that could fix the issue.

If you can manage to launch Windows or even Safe Mode, check the C:WindowsMinidump directory for any dump files from previous crashes. Those logs could give insights into the problems you're facing. You can zip those files and share them for better diagnosis.
