Help! I Keep Getting Hit by a Mining Virus on My PC

I've been struggling with what I believe is a mining virus on my computer. After noticing high GPU usage and temperatures—up to 80 degrees—despite nothing running in the background, I took some serious steps. I cleaned my system drive, did a full reinstall of Windows, and even reset my entire PC, including all drives. Yet, the issue persists! My hardware includes an RX 6600 GPU and an R5 5600 CPU. I suspect the virus might have come from a modding site called GameBanana since it has been the only questionable site I've interacted with lately. I really need advice on what to do next. If I update or flash the BIOS, could that eliminate the virus for good? I'm reaching the end of my rope here—any help would be greatly appreciated!

I feel for you, the GPU usage and heat seem like a real issue! If you're still seeing high usage and temps after doing a full reinstall, there might be something you're restoring from backups that has the virus. You know, those Word documents or pictures you uploaded to Google Drive and restored could be the culprit. Maybe hold off on restoring old files temporarily if you suspect they might carry the virus.

It might not actually be a virus, or there could still be remnants of the initial infection. You mentioned 80% usage—just to clarify, that's your GPU, right? Also, when you reset, did you use Windows' built-in reset, or did you go for a full clean install with a USB? I'd recommend the USB method if you haven’t done that yet; it's usually more thorough.
