I created an important PDF using Affinity that took me a month to finish. When I went to send it through Gmail, I found out it was a massive 400MB, and Google Drive wouldn't upload it due to an error. I tried to compress the file using a website called iLovePDF, but after processing, the site warned me that the PDF was corrupted. To make matters worse, the PDF vanished from my computer entirely, and I can't even find it in Affinity anymore. I tried using Disk Drill to recover it, but all I see is a .lnk extension for the file, which doesn't work when I try to download it again. I'm really worried because this PDF is crucial for my class assignment. Has anyone faced a similar issue or have any suggestions for recovering my document?

It’s frustrating to hear this! Definitely avoid free conversion sites for important work—there’s a chance you lost your file permanently. If the PDF isn’t in your Affinity program or in the recent files, maybe check your antivirus to see if it flagged it as a threat. In any case, remember to always compress files locally using trusted software in the future. Don’t lose hope just yet!
Lol it’s wild, right? Sometimes tech just has a way of messing with us!
Have you done a search for all .pdf files on your computer? It seems odd that it would just disappear. If you've got Google Drive, double-check that you didn’t upload it to the cloud accidentally.
I’ve tried searching for it in different ways, including the name I saved it with and just .pdf, but I can't find anything. It feels like it never even existed! This is such a strange situation for me!
You might be able to get some help by reaching out to Affinity's support team. They may have some tools or tips that could help you recover that file. Don’t give up on it!
Oh, that's a good idea! I’ll definitely try contacting them. Thanks a bunch! ❤️
For solid data recovery, it’s best to stop using the drive. Any software you download could overwrite your deleted files, making recovery impossible. If you want a chance to recover it, consider removing the drive from use immediately.

I'll keep that in mind! The PDF vanished after I moved it, but the original project file was untouched. Affinity can be tricky, especially since it's in beta, but I’ll check the antivirus like you suggested!
