I accidentally clicked on something while looking for wallpapers and now I seem to have multiple malware infections on my computer. I'm using McAfee antivirus, but I'm unsure how to effectively remove these infections. This is my first computer, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

First off, I suggest uninstalling McAfee for now and installing Malwarebytes instead. It’s a reliable tool for detecting and removing malware. After that, run a full scan to catch everything!

Is Malwarebytes free? I'm kind of low on funds right now.

Here's a quick method! Press the Windows key + R, type "MRT", and hit enter. This opens the Malware Removal Tool that comes with Windows. Select the full scan option. It might take a few hours, but it should help clean up your system.

Honestly, I've been using Malwarebytes for years and it has cleaned everything for me. It really works wonders!

Just a note – don’t forget about the built-in Malware Removal Tool as an option! Or check out a video on how to uninstall McAfee if you decide to go that route.

Make sure to check if the malware is coming from a website you allowed to send notifications. It's a good idea to disable all notifications across your browsers to stop those annoying ads!

How do I turn off those notifications?
