Hey everyone, I'm reaching out because my friend is trying to get back into his old Apple ID on a new iPhone, but he's hit a wall. He remembers his Apple ID email but forgot the password, and when he tries to reset it, Apple only sends a verification code to a trusted phone number that he no longer has. There's no option to receive the code via his email, even though he can access that. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any way to recover the Apple ID just using the email without access to the trusted number?

When trying to recover the account, your friend needs to input the old phone number first. After that, he should get an option indicating he doesn't have access to that number anymore. That step lets him explore other recovery options aside from just receiving a text message.
