Help Me Build a Budget PC with Donated Parts

I received 16GB of DDR3 RAM, an RTX 3060 graphics card, and a 1TB SSD from a friend who upgraded their computer. Since I've never built a PC before, I'd like to know if these components will work well together for my first build, especially since I'm trying to keep costs low. Any tips or further advice would also be appreciated!

Honestly, using DDR3 is not the best choice if you're looking to invest in a good future-proof setup. You might want to consider a modern DDR4 build instead since DDR3 limits you significantly and isn’t worth much nowadays.

You'll need to find a SATA SSD rather than an M.2 SSD for that older motherboard. Also, be sure your system has the latest BIOS update for the GPU. Just keep in mind that this setup might not support Windows 11, so you're likely looking at using Windows 10 or possibly Linux.

Those old DDR3 components are limiting. If you're serious about being compatible with Windows 11, switching to DDR4 and a newer motherboard is the way to go. Also, for the SSD, don’t shell out big bucks; you'll hardly notice the difference between a budget NVMe and a pricier option.

That SSD was a nice free find! But I agree with others about the DDR3; it’s best to ditch it. You can build a decent gaming rig once you upgrade the RAM and motherboard.
