Has anyone transitioned from QA to DevOps?

I've been working in QA for about a year and a half, focusing on both manual and automated testing in a service-based company. Recently, my client company has developed AI agents that can generate test cases based on user stories, often catching edge cases that people might overlook. Given this advancement in AI, I feel like the QA career may soon be at risk. I'm thinking of making a switch to DevOps. If anyone has made this transition, I would appreciate your advice!

Honestly, it's a tough time for many of us in tech. Once AI starts handling QA tasks, it definitely makes you think about future job stability. DevOps sounds exciting, but it might not be the magic solution we're hoping for.

You know, transitioning from QA to DevOps is definitely possible, especially if you start learning about DevOps processes within your current company. Perhaps consider asking for a Junior DevOps role or gradually shifting roles. Since you have experience in test automation, many of those skills can transfer well!

If you're serious about moving into DevOps, my advice is to dive into self-study and gain some hands-on experience. Explore how DevOps works at your company and see if you can pick up some additional skills along the way.

From what I've seen, most DevOps folks have been deep into coding, hardware, and networking since childhood. It freaks me out how knowledgeable they are. Just a heads-up, it might be quite a leap from your current role.
