I'm building a new PC and I'm torn between two ITX motherboards: the ASRock B850I and the ASUS B650E-I. Both are priced similarly, and I'm using a 9600X processor. The ASUS board offers more connectivity options but requires a BIOS update, which I think should be manageable with flashback. However, I've heard about potential whining issues with it. On the other hand, the ASRock B850I is straightforward without any need for BIOS updates, and I appreciate its simplicity. I'm curious about what others think about these options and whether the extra connectivity on the ASUS is worth it.

I'd recommend the B850 for its simplicity, especially if you're not heavily relying on the additional connectivity. Most of your peripherals like mice and keyboards work perfectly fine with USB 2.0, and you can always grab a USB hub if you need more ports later. But if your usage requires more data transfer, the B650E might be the better choice due to its faster ports.
If you're really torn, try flipping a coin! If you're not happy with the outcome, that might just show which board you actually prefer. But seriously, if it feels right, go with that one.
That sounds reasonable! I guess most of my devices don't need the faster ports. Still, I feel like having those extra ports could help me in the future. Do USB 3 devices really have any issues working with USB 2 ports?
