I'm looking to put together a new PC build after not having done one in a while, and I feel like I've hit a wall with too much information—it's giving me analysis paralysis! I'm aiming for a setup that's good for FPS gaming, ideally mid-range but leaning towards higher-end specs. I've been considering AMD for both CPU and GPU, though I'm open to Nvidia if needed. Here are my main concerns:
1. I've read mixed reports about the 12-pin and 16-pin connectors on graphics cards being prone to burning or catching fire, which is why I chose a GPU with three 8-pin connectors instead. Is this a major issue, and should I really be worried about it?
2. I have DDR5 6400 CL32 RAM in mind, but I've seen recommendations that 6000 CL30 might actually perform better. Is this true, or am I overthinking things?
3. Lastly, I'm stuck between the 9800X3D and the 9850X3D. They seem very similar, aside from slight differences in boost speed and power consumption. Is the 9850 really worth the extra cost?

You've got a solid build there! For your first question, I'd stick with the AMD GPU. They offer great performance and value right now, and only top-tier Nvidia cards can really compete.
For the RAM, while the 6000 MT/s CL30 is considered "optimal" for AMD, since you're planning on using an X3D CPU, the exact figures aren't as critical. Most AM5 CPUs tend to handle 6000 MT/s quite well, which should be stable for your gaming purposes.
Finally, between the two CPUs, they are very similar in performance, and while the 9850X3D is the latest and technically the best, you won’t notice a significant difference in gaming. If you want a slightly better chip and don’t mind spending extra cash, go for it. Otherwise, the 9800X3D will definitely do the job!

Thanks for your insights! This is really helping to clear things up for me. I feel more confident exploring different setups now.
