I'm a video editor and recently faced some major issues with File Explorer on my computer. After searching for solutions, I decided to update my system, thinking it would help. However, post-update, I've noticed a lot of my files are missing, specifically from my hard disk, not my computer. I've been looking for help online, but most discussions seem to focus on files missing from people's computers instead. If anyone has any advice on how to recover my lost files from the hard disk, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

How exactly did you update your system?
When you mention others missing files, aren't those files also stored on a hard drive? Maybe there's a bit of confusion there. Are your missing files stored on an external hard drive?
It's worth checking the health of your hard disk to see if that's the issue. You can use a tool like CrystalDiskInfo to help with that.
If you have a verified backup, restoring from it would be the best way to go. Also, keep in mind that Microsoft may have uploaded your files to OneDrive if they were stored in default folders like Documents or Downloads. What directory do you usually save your files in?
