Help! My AppleCare Offer Expired – What Should I Do Now?

I've got a MacBook Air that's still running well, but my battery health is in the low 80s. I wanted to renew my AppleCare coverage, and my settings showed I had until Saturday to do it. I figured I was still in the clear, but when I tried to renew last night (Friday), the option had expired! I spent a good hour and a half chatting with Apple Support, but they won't honor the renewal offer. They only offered to escalate my case, but I can't even communicate with the supervisor. They blamed a technical issue, which feels like it should be their responsibility to fix. What other options do I have now?

Your best bet is to call AppleCare again, but this time ask for a senior advisor. Make sure you have proof that your Mac said you could renew until Saturday. They might make an exception if they see the technical difficulties you faced. Also, consider filing a complaint with the BBB or FTC, or check if your credit card covers warranty extensions. If all else fails, replacing the battery might be your best option, usually running between $129-$199.

Just a heads up, I've heard they don't have senior advisors on the phone anymore; it's mainly chat support now.

I understand why you want that AppleCare since your battery's fine for now but might need a replacement in a year. Paying that monthly fee could save you some cash in the long run with extra protection. I'm with you on pursuing this! Are you actually going to go through with the battery replacement?

Honestly, this happens sometimes. It’s a case of "poor planning on your part doesn’t constitute an emergency on theirs." Just keep pushing for what you need, and maybe you'll get a different rep that can help.

Did you actually call Apple Support or just rely on chat? Phone support typically has more resources and capabilities. If you haven’t called yet, you may want to try that instead.

I did both last night, but it seems like the chat wasn't effective.

One thing I've learned is that being polite and calm with customer support often gets you further, so keep that in mind when you contact them again. It's worth a shot!

I assure you, I'm staying calm during all of this!
