Help! My Audio Ports Just Stopped Working After Upgrading My CPU

Hey everyone! I'm a long-time lurker but a first-time poster here. I recently upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 5 to a Ryzen 7 5800XT. Almost everything is working perfectly, but I'm having a major issue with my sound setup. My Creative Pebble 2.0 speakers aren't producing any sound, and neither the front nor back audio ports are functioning. I've done a ton of research trying to fix this. I've updated my BIOS to the latest version, toggled the HD audio settings, and I've downloaded and reinstalled all the AMD and Realtek audio drivers I could find from the MSI website. However, I've hit a dead end. The Realtek audio monitor software is outdated and not functioning anymore. Interestingly, I do get sound through my monitor's 3.5mm audio port when I plug in headphones, but Windows doesn't recognize anything else plugged into the audio ports. The only audio output listed in my sound settings is the AMD high-quality audio through the monitor along with some virtual outputs. I've read some users just opted for a USB audio dongle, but I'd really like to get my ports working again if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you've already done a lot of troubleshooting! Have you tried checking if the audio devices are disabled in Windows? Sometimes, they might be recognized but muted or turned off. You can do this by right-clicking the volume icon in the system tray, selecting 'Sounds', going to the 'Playback' tab, and seeing if there’s an option to enable your speakers or headphones.

Yeah, sometimes it's just a simple setting in Windows that's overlooked! Also, double-check if the speaker cable is securely connected, or try a different cable if possible.

I had a similar issue after upgrading my CPU. In my case, I ended up needing to reinstall Windows to get the audio working again. If you feel comfortable, it might be worth a try. Just back up your data first!

Reinstalling Windows feels like a last resort, but sometimes it fixes weird issues like this. Just make sure you have everything backed up!
