Hey everyone, I was just working on my computer when it made a single click sound and powered off completely. Now it won't turn back on at all! The thing is, it's only two years old and I haven't had any issues prior to this. I tried plugging it in and even swapping the power cord, so I don't think it's a dead battery. I'm really worried because all my important stuff is on it. What should I do?

There are multiple possibilities here. Without checking all the components, it's hard to pinpoint the issue. If your data is really valuable, I’d recommend taking it to a repair shop—they can figure it out more efficiently and safely than trying to troubleshoot by yourself.
If it's a laptop, diagnosing can be tricky. Try removing the battery (if it's removable) and holding down the power button for 30 seconds before reconnecting the charger. Sometimes, it could be something minor like a bad capacitor or something more serious like a failed VRM that could damage your CPU. If you still can’t coax it back to life, don't worry about the files just yet. Just take the hard drive out and connect it to another computer to access your data.
Yeah, it happens sometimes, unfortunately. There could be a lot going on with it.
Exactly! Prioritize retrieving your data first. Diagnosing the issue can risk your data if something is really wrong. Just grab an external enclosure or adapter to connect the hard drive to another device and check if your files are safe.
