Help! My Computer Keeps Opening Microsoft Edge on Startup

I'm having a weird issue where every time I boot up my Windows 11 computer, Microsoft Edge opens automatically, even though I've turned off auto boot settings. If I try to close it using Task Manager, it just pops back up immediately. I also got a location notification saying, "Programs using location: Microsoft Edge". When I checked the Control Panel's Uninstall menu, I saw something called "Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection", but I haven't installed anything besides Steam, Brave browser, and Discord. I haven't really used Microsoft Edge for anything except downloading another browser, so I'm worried there might be a virus or something going on. Can anyone help?

I get that you're saying it’s already disabled, but you might want to double-check the startup programs in Task Manager to ensure it didn’t get re-enabled somehow. It’s also worth looking for any suspicious programs or extensions in Edge itself.

It sounds like your computer might be dealing with some kind of malware. Make sure to check out a good malware guide for help on how to scan and remove any potential threats. There are various programs you can use that are effective against malware, so don't hesitate to ask for suggestions if you need them!

Just so you know, the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection is usually standard on Windows devices, so it isn’t necessarily a sign of a problem. As for Edge, try going to the startup programs in Task Manager and see if you can disable it from launching at startup. If you've already disabled it, that could be a clue!
