Help! My Computer Keeps Restarting – Potential Hardware Issue?

I've been having a frustrating issue with my computer that's been acting up for some time now. About once or twice a week, it randomly restarts, which has lately escalated into a constant restart loop. After one of these restart incidents, Windows tried to install some updates, but it ended up in a cycle of failed updates and more restarts. I even did a full OS reinstall to try and fix it, but the restarting problem is still ongoing—now it's happening approximately once an hour! I'm starting to think the power supply unit (PSU) might be the culprit, but I'm hesitant to replace it without being sure what's really wrong. Here's my parts list: [PCPartPicker link]. I've tried cleaning out the dust, reseating the RAM, and running stress tests on the CPU and GPU, but none seem to trigger the restarts. My CPU idles at about 55-60°C, which seems okay, but I've noticed some system-wide lags and slowness since this began. Has anyone experienced similar issues or have any thoughts on what could be causing this?

From what you described, overheating or power issues are usually the culprits. I recommend downloading Hwinfo64 to monitor your temperatures, and OCCT for stability testing. If nothing else works, consider swapping the PSU with another one from a place that has a return policy; this way, you can rule it out without a big loss!

I ran OCCT's stability tests, and it consistently causes the restarts within just 30 seconds of starting! Any tips on what I should do next with that info?

Sounds like a tough situation! It’s definitely worth checking the power cables from the PSU. Sometimes, just reseating them can help. Also, just to clarify, Notepad shouldn't be causing any stress, so something else might be going on here. You're right to be wary about buying a new PSU without diagnosis, though.

I’ve checked all the power connections, and they are secure, but the problem keeps happening.
