Help! My CPU is Overheating and Shutting Down

I'm in the process of upgrading my PC, but I'm having a serious issue where it won't stay on for more than 15 seconds. I can log into Windows, but shortly after booting, my PC turns off. The CPU I'm using is an i7-13700KF, paired with an MSI Pro Z690-A motherboard and a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Black air cooler. After about 10 seconds, the CPU temperature shoots up to 100 degrees Celsius, and then it shuts down. I've flashed the BIOS and confirmed that the thermal paste is properly applied, but I'm stuck here. I also have a 3080 graphics card, 32GB of Corsair RGB Vengeance Pro RAM, and a 1TB M.2 SSD. Any advice would be greatly appreciated—I'm going crazy trying to figure this out!

You mentioned that it shuts down immediately after reaching 100°C, but even if the CPU is overheating, it usually throttles down first. Check the thermal shutdown settings in your BIOS, as that could be triggering the shutoff if it's too low.

I checked the BIOS hardware monitor, and that’s how I verified the temperature. It seems like it always reaches that point within 15 seconds.

The Hyper 212 cooler is pretty weak for an i7-13700KF, which can draw over 300W. You might want to consider upgrading to a 360mm AIO cooler to handle the heat better. It's a better match for that beast!

I thought it was compatible according to PC Part Picker, but maybe I need to rethink the cooling solution.

Did you remember to peel off the protective sticker on the bottom of the heatsink? Sometimes that can cause major overheating issues if it's left on.

Yeah, I peeled it off, but I'm starting to wonder if my CPU is defective since the motherboard is renewed.

I know a Hyper 212 isn't the best for heavy workloads. My setup with a Phantom Spirit cooler and three fans keeps my system cool. An AIO or limiting the TDP could really help you out here.
