I'm having an issue with my desktop computer where the monitor keeps flickering on and off every few seconds, and the display is all red and pixelated. The monitor itself seems to work fine when tested separately from the PC. This computer is about 6 years old, and although I haven't used it much in the past year, it has never had any graphics issues before. The monitor is almost brand new, having been replaced last year. I also have an old keyboard that has no issues, but I'm currently without a mouse since my cat chewed through the cord. Unfortunately, I can't attach a photo, but I'm hoping my description gives you a good idea of the problem.

It sounds like your graphics card might be the culprit. If you've tested the monitor with another device and it's fine, the next step is to look at the graphics card itself. Sometimes it can be a software issue, like outdated drivers, but if you're unlucky, it might be a faulty card. Also, if possible, try cleaning out the connectors with some compressed air; dirt can cause connectivity problems too. And if you can, share any images or try using a different cable to troubleshoot further!
Have you tried accessing Windows or using a screenshot tool? If you can get into Windows, try using the Snipping Tool to capture what’s on the screen. This could help determine if the glitches are from the GPU. If there's nothing wrong in the photos or videos you take, the problem might be with the monitor or the cable connections. Although, since the screen keeps cutting off, it sounds like the GPU might be failing.
