I'm having a major issue with my Drive E, which is constantly showing 100% activity. I've attempted a few troubleshooting steps, like changing the MSISupported setting in the registry, updating all my drivers, and running CHKDSK. However, CHKDSK is giving me some unknown errors and won't complete properly. When I try to run it, I get a message saying the volume is in use by another process. I even tried forcing a dismount, but I'm still stuck. Any ideas on how to resolve this? My E drive is a Samsung SSD 870 EVO, and when I check Task Manager, it shows 100% disk activity.

It sounds like your E drive might be used for ReadyBoost, which can cause it to run at high activity. You could check its properties to see if that's the case. If it is, disabling that feature might help!
Have you tried using Resource Monitor? It can give you details on disk usage. Additionally, swapping out the SATA cables or trying a different SATA port can sometimes resolve these issues.
I checked Resource Monitor and it only shows activity on Drive C. Everything seems normal there, but I’ll try your cable suggestion next.
When you say it's running at 100%, do you mean disk activity? If that's the case, try using CHKDSK with the /V (verbose) option, and also consider downloading Crystal Disk Info to check the health of your drive!
Yeah, it's showing 100% in Task Manager. I'll give your suggestions a shot! Thanks!
I installed Crystal Disk Info, but it only shows drives C and D. My E drive isn’t showing up there. But just for context, it's a Samsung SSD 870 EVO.
I tried checking the properties, but it froze File Explorer and made my desktop go blank. Not sure what to do there.
