I'm having trouble with my Seagate external hard drive not being recognized by my PC. I ran the Seagate diagnostics tool and it indicated a hardware error with a message stating: "The IO operation at logical block address 0x0 for Disk 1 (PDO name: \Device\0000012f) failed due to a hardware error." Is there any way or tool that I can use to get this disk running again?

Yeah, once I saw it was an external HDD, I figured it might be fried. If the data is super important, consider sending it to a professional service like Gillware or Drive Savers. For the future, using flash storage and backing up to the cloud could save you some headaches!

If the drive is physically okay, you might want to try using GetDataBackNTFS. You can find it on older Hiren's boot disks, and it's pretty reliable. Recuva is another option worth checking out.

It sounds like the drive might be toast since the diagnostics say there's a hardware error. Have you checked if it shows up in diskpart? That could help confirm what's happening.
