Help! My External Linux SSD Isn’t Being Detected in BIOS or Windows 11

I just got a new desktop and want to use my old external SSD that has Linux on it. Unfortunately, the disk isn't showing up at all – not in the BIOS or any Windows 11 software. My AMD motherboard doesn't have fast boot, but even then, my motherboard is indicating that the M.2 slot is empty. I even tried connecting the SSD to my laptop, but the BIOS still says there's no SSD installed. I'm not sure what to do next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Keep in mind that making changes to BIOS can be risky and might lead to data loss. Make sure you have backups of your important data before trying anything.

Before giving up, double-check your connections. Ensure that any cables are properly connected to the SSD in the new computer. If it's an M.2 drive, make sure that it’s seated correctly in the slot. Also, what kind of SSD was the new PC originally using? Sometimes compatibility issues can arise.

If the SSD isn't detected by either your desktop or laptop, it's likely that the drive has failed. This can happen unfortunately, so you might be out of luck unless there's another way to connect and test it.
