My friend's new computer has suddenly stopped booting into Windows. We're not sure if he changed something in the BIOS or if the SSD has failed. It was working fine with Windows 11 installed and games on it, but now it only boots into the BIOS. The system recognizes the SSD under the M.2 connection.
We tried using a functional SSD with Windows, and that worked just fine. We also attempted to reinstall Windows on the problematic SSD, but the installer doesn't even see it as an installable drive. I even connected the 1TB SSD to a USB external drive, but my laptop shows it only has 1MB of available storage. I'm not sure if that's related to it being used externally or if there's a configuration issue.
I've tried numerous troubleshooting steps, and I don't want to concede that the SSD is dead yet, but I'm running out of options. Any advice from tech gurus out there? When I try to boot and select a drive, it says no boot drive found.

Be careful when messing with BIOS settings or disk configurations, as these changes can lead to data loss. Always make sure your data backups are up to date before making any adjustments to your system.
There was a recent Windows update that has been known to make some PCs unbootable. You might want to check for any updates that need to be rolled back or fixed. Here’s a guide on how to address boot issues after an update.

That update was from January though. Your friend just got this PC a few days ago. Maybe Rent-a-Center had it from January and forgot to update it.
