Help! My Gaming PC Keeps Shutting Off During Heavy Games

Hey everyone, I'm facing a frustrating issue with my gaming PC. I recently built it with mostly new parts, including an Asus Tuf RX 6800 XT OC and a Thermaltake 850W PSU. It runs light gaming just fine, like emulation, but when I dive into more demanding games like GTA 5 with mods or the Resident Evil 4 remake, my computer shuts off after a few minutes. Interestingly, the RGB fans stay on. I've tried several things: I lowered the CPU's power draw, confirmed the GPU is in good health, eliminated cable extensions, and even replaced the PSU with a brand new one, but the problem persists. I've also stopped overclocking my RAM and CPU, yet no luck. I thought 850W would suffice, but now I'm wondering if I should consider a higher wattage PSU. Here are my specs:
- Asus B850m-Plus WiFi Motherboard
- Klevv DDR5-6400MT 32GB RAM
- Ryzen 8700G CPU
- Asus Tuf RX 6800 XT GPU
- NZXT Kraken 360 AIO
- Corsair RGB Fans
- Corsair 850E PSU
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What’s the name of the Windows program you’re using to monitor your hardware? Maybe there’s something else in your setup that’s causing this issue that we can look into if you share that info!

Have you checked your CPU and GPU temperatures during heavy gaming? An 850W PSU should be enough for your setup, but overheating components can cause shutdowns. If your temps stay below 50°C, you should be okay, but it might be worth watching them close during gaming sessions just to be sure!

The temperatures stay pretty cool, hardly ever hitting 50°C even during benchmarks, but I'll keep an eye on them!

If possible, try a known good PSU under load. Sometimes even new PSUs can be faulty, and testing with a different one can help rule that out. Just a suggestion if you haven’t already!

I bought a new PSU just yesterday and it still shut off on me, which is really frustrating.

I had a similar issue where my RAM turned out to be faulty. I recommend running Memtest86 overnight to check for any errors. It might take a while since you have 32GB, but it helped me pinpoint my problem. If it passes, great! If not, you might need a replacement.

Not a dumb question at all, but is there fresh thermal paste on your CPU? If your paste has dried up, it can cause overheating. I’ve seen cases where dusty or old setups cause thermal issues, so it might help to check that as well.

I just built this PC last month, so there's no dust buildup and I applied fresh paste last Saturday on both the CPU and GPU.
