I bought a budget 2TB hard drive online, and it's causing me huge problems. It seems corrupted and I can't retrieve my videos. I've tried various software and commands, but I'm totally stuck. There are visible recordings, but some are corrupted. Even though I see the paths to missing videos in my file list, they say the content has been moved or deleted. Is there any way to save my data?

It sounds like it might be too late for recovery. If it's a fake drive, the data could be gone for good. But since you managed to find some videos, there could be hope! Keep checking those paths you mentioned.
Have you tried using tools like Photorec or cloning the drive? Just make sure you have a functioning drive to work with, though!
Sounds like your hard drive might be a fake one. Even if the file names are showing up, it's possible that the data was just overwritten. Some cheaper drives can behave like surveillance cameras where they only keep the latest information accessible.
Yeah, I noticed something odd too! When I plug it in, it shows two separate drives: one is the USB and another showing 1TB. It's definitely suspicious.

I did find a few large videos! I found the path to a 4-hour video that initially wasn’t showing, and when I converted it using VLC, it worked perfectly. Still, I can’t explain the discrepancy in used space.
