I found myself in a tough situation: my iCloud account was hacked while I was sleeping. The intruder deleted my phone from the account and changed the trusted phone number, leaving me locked out for a week now. I've reached out to Apple and submitted proof of purchase and my serial number. One support rep seemed pretty positive about recovering my account, but another wasn't as reassuring. I keep reading online that this happens frequently and many people can't get their accounts back, which is pretty shocking given the evidence I have. I even have emails confirming that the changes were made from China, and I still have access to that email. My carrier, Verizon, confirmed it's my phone and helped me unlock it so I could set up a new iCloud account. My main question is if anyone has had success in recovering their account after their trusted number was changed? I'd really love to hear a success story.

Honestly, it sounds tough. Without any devices currently signed into your account, it’s going to be incredibly difficult to prove it's yours. Apple doesn’t track identities like Verizon does, so they require you to verify ownership through your password or trusted number. Since you can’t do that, they see it as not being your account.

I do have AirPods linked to that account. Do you think that could help in any way?
Also, I meant that Verizon was able to unlock my phone, allowing me to create a new iCloud account.
