I'm really in a bind here! My iPhone 12 is stuck in recovery mode and it's driving me crazy. I didn't back it up to iCloud, and I have years' worth of precious photos of my kids on there. I got it wet a little while ago at the creek, but it wasn't drenched or anything. The Face ID was acting up too, so I tried restarting it, and now it just keeps flashing the Apple logo over and over. When I connect it to my Mac to update, I get an error saying "the iPhone could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (4013)." I really need some advice on how to fix this without losing all my pictures!

It sounds like your iPhone is in recovery mode right now. Were there any significant events that happened before it got stuck? Like an update or physical damage? I know you mentioned the restart, but just double-checking. If it's water-related, that could also be a factor. Just be careful—water damage can complicate things.
Have you looked at iCloud.com just to see if any of your photos made it there? Sometimes stuff gets backed up without you realizing, and it could be a lifesaver.
I checked iCloud, but unfortunately, my photos aren't there. I realize now it was a mistake not to back them up.
It did get a little wet at the creek, but not drenched. Face ID had been glitching for a bit before. After the restart, I can't get out of recovery mode.
