Help! My iPhone SE Keeps Failing to Update from 16.0.2 to 18.5

I've been trying to update my iPhone SE from version 16.0.2 to 18.5 for a while now, but it keeps failing. It downloads the update and prepares it, but then something goes wrong, and I receive a message that the update failed—no further information is provided. Just to give you some context, this iPhone SE doesn't have a SIM card; I mainly use it for an app that controls my model trains, and I haven't updated it since I bought it about two years ago. It doesn't connect to WiFi frequently, so I'm not sure if it's been getting updates at all. I'm guessing the issue might be the significant jump from 16.0.2 to 18.5, but honestly, I'm not very knowledgeable about Apple devices; I usually prefer Android. I only want to update because a friend mentioned that the latest version addresses some crucial security issues. Any suggestions?

First off, which iPhone SE model do you have? If it's the original one, it can't update to the 18 series. If it's the 2020 or 2022 model, you should be good to go. Given that it's a big jump in versions, I recommend doing a tethered update through a computer. This is the original method and often more reliable for larger updates.

I checked, and I have the Second Generation model, which I believe is the 2020 version.
