Help! My Laptop Can’t Connect to WiFi After a Power Outage

I'm having trouble with my laptop connecting to WiFi. It works fine on my phone, but after a thunderstorm caused a power outage about eight hours ago, my laptop has lost its ability to connect. I followed some troubleshooting steps suggested by an AI assistant, but nothing has worked so far. Now, the WiFi option has disappeared entirely from my laptop, and when I check the device manager, I can't see any WiFi adapter. I also tried connecting via Ethernet using USB tethering from my phone, but while it briefly shows a connection, there's no internet access. I've restarted multiple times, but I'm still stuck. Can anyone help me get my laptop back online? I have work to do!

First things first, make sure you know your laptop model. Use another device to go to the manufacturer's website and download the correct WiFi driver for that model. Once you've got the driver, transfer it to your laptop using a USB stick and install it from there. It's crucial to get the driver directly from the manufacturer's site to avoid any shady software. Good luck!

Just a heads up, be cautious about downloading third-party programs that claim to install drivers for you. They can sometimes lead to more issues. If you can, try using your manufacturer’s own software instead since it usually does a reliable job of managing drivers without prompting too often for admin approval.

I saw that you mentioned the site tells you to use your laptop to download the driver, but your WiFi option is gone. If you can connect your phone to a computer that has internet, you might consider checking if your phone has a mobile hotspot feature. That way, you can get your laptop to connect to that and download the driver directly.
