Hey everyone! I'm new here and in a bit of a bind. I just swapped out the battery in my 2019 OMEN gaming laptop because the old one was failing and completely lost the ability to charge. After putting the new battery in, I found that my laptop connects to WiFi but shows no internet access. I've been through a ton of troubleshooting steps, and I'm at my wits' end. I reinstalled all drivers, reset the network settings, and even checked the physical connection of the WiFi cable inside the laptop. After fiddling with things, the battery is now recognized, but the WiFi issue remains. I even consulted with Geek Squad, but they were unhelpful and kept the details of what they wanted to install vague. At this point, I'm desperate for help—what else can I try to restore internet connectivity? Also, any guesses on what Geek Squad might have been trying to sell me?

Have you considered trying an external WiFi adapter? They’re usually plug-and-play, and it could help bypass whatever issue you’re having with the internal WiFi.

Have you checked if your laptop connects to any other networks? It could be a problem specific to your home network. Also, sometimes your router might block a device after multiple reconnection attempts. Check for any lockout messages on your router's settings.

When you run 'ipconfig /all' in the command prompt, check for the IPv4 address, gateway, and DNS info. If any of those settings look off, your laptop might not be getting proper configuration from your router.

It's worth looking at the signal strength. If the WiFi problems started right after you replaced the battery, you might have accidentally disconnected the WiFi antenna while working inside the laptop. A quick check might reveal if that's the case.

If your laptop seems to connect to the network but isn’t getting internet, that could be a separate issue. Sometimes, the lack of internet on your device could be due to a VPN or firewall settings blocking the access, even if you're not using a VPN. Check those settings!
