I accidentally spilled something in my bag with my laptop inside. It's a mid-tier MSI laptop that I really love and I'm super worried about it! When I took it out, the left side felt damp, and both the fan and some holes were wet, but it isn't soaked. I haven't turned it on since and kept it upside down, originally planning to wait 24 hours before turning it back on, but now I think I need to wait at least 48 hours to be safe. I'm really anxious and unsure what to do – is there a chance it will still work? My parents will be furious if they find out!!

You might want to open it up if you're comfortable. This way you can check for any remaining moisture inside and help it dry out faster. Just make sure to be careful when doing it!
Here’s a quirky idea: try placing your laptop in a pillowcase filled with kitty litter. It may help absorb the moisture while it’s closed. Don’t know how effective it’ll be, but it’s worth a shot!
What exactly spilled on it? Was it water or something more sticky? Knowing that can help determine how serious the issue might be!
Definitely don’t turn it on until you're sure it’s dry inside! If you’re uncertain about opening it, consider taking it to a repair shop. It may cost a bit, but it’ll be cheaper than replacing the whole laptop!
I recommend taking it apart and cleaning it with some isopropanol, ideally the 99% kind. A soft toothbrush could help clean the areas where liquid might have touched. If you don’t do this, corrosion may set in! Let it dry open for a few days after that and check if it turns on.
I'm really nervous about taking it apart, but knowing about the corrosion risk makes me want to act fast!
Thanks! I'm planning to try that since a lot of people have suggested it.
