Help! My Laptop Has a Black Screen on Boot

I have a Casper Excalibur G870 laptop that was working perfectly last night. However, this morning when I try to power it on, nothing appears on the screen—not even the brand logo. I can hear Windows booting up in the background and my phone connects to the laptop, meaning it seems to be functioning, but the display is completely dead. I'm at a loss for what to do next. Any advice?

It sounds like there could be a problem either with the display connection or with the display itself. This could potentially be an expensive fix, unfortunately.

If your laptop boots normally and you hear sounds like Windows logging on but the screen is completely black, it likely means that the internal display isn't working. Here are a few things to check:

1. **Loose Display Cable**: Sometimes, the cable connecting the motherboard to the screen can come loose. If that happens, it results in a black screen without any logo or backlight.

2. **Backlight Issue**: If the backlight is dead, you won't see anything unless you shine a light on it from the side. Try that and see if you can spot any faint image.

3. **Faulty Display Panel**: If the panel fails, it can result in a black screen out of the blue. Since your laptop is functioning otherwise, this is a possibility.

4. **iGPU Failure**: Though it’s less common, there could be an issue with the integrated graphics processor on the motherboard, which would show on an external monitor.

To troubleshoot:
- Plug in an external monitor to see if it works; if it does, the issue is with your laptop's screen or cable.
- Try the flashlight test on your internal display to see if it's a backlight problem.

If the external monitor is also black, that might indicate a motherboard issue. Given your situation, it seems likely that the display cable or panel has failed, but it could be repaired fairly easily.

I just tested it with an external monitor, and it didn’t work! This is making me really anxious.

Have you tried connecting your laptop to an external display using an HDMI cable or something similar? If it detects the external monitor, you might just need to replace your laptop's screen. If that doesn't work, it could be time to consider a hardware replacement.

I tried connecting a display, but it’s black too. This isn’t looking good for me.
