Hey everyone! I could really use some help with my laptop. I've been dealing with this strange issue where it seems to start clicking and typing on its own, specifically trying to open "stream.io" (not to be confused with strem.io). This first started happening a while back while I was watching Netflix. A few times, it opened a new tab in Chrome and started typing 'stream.io.' Whenever I'd try to exit Chrome, it would pop up the Windows bar and continue typing, so I had to shut it down.
I've run Malwarebytes and Avast several times since I use these for my online classes, but they haven't found anything suspicious. Just today, I left for a moment during a Zoom class and came back to find it attempting to close my open PowerPoint, and it started messing with text boxes. Each time I restarted, the strange behavior would stop for a while.
I don't have paid antivirus software, and I've noticed my search engine has switched to 'stream.io' occasionally, but I've removed it. It seems like a malware issue, but I honestly don't know much about how to fix this, and I'd appreciate any clear, straightforward advice. Thanks so much!

It sounds like it could be a weird glitch or possibly some rogue software messing with your system. First off, make sure to check your Chrome extensions—there might be something there you didn't install that could be causing these issues. It’s also worth checking your startup programs to see if anything suspicious is launching automatically when you boot your computer.
You mentioned a folder called 'uv' in %appdata%. That's unusual! I recommend deleting that folder if you're confident it’s not something you installed. Make sure to back up any important files first, just in case. Then, run a complete virus scan again.
Got it! I’ll back up my files and check that out. Thanks for the heads up!
You might want to consider doing a clean reinstall of Chrome, too. Sometimes, bugs can hide in user data that just a regular uninstall doesn’t clear out. And make sure to reset your browser settings afterward to default to help clean out any unwanted changes.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely look into Chrome extensions and startup programs. I have a feeling something’s off somewhere.
