Help! My Laptop Seems to Have Taken Over My Home PC

My sister connected her laptop to our home network, which is only shared with her son's PC. Now, it looks like the laptop has somehow copied everything from the desktop PC, and she can't access any of her original files on the laptop. Can anyone shed some light on what might have happened here?

Definitely sounds like a OneDrive sync issue. When the laptop connected to the network, it may have synced the user profile from the PC instead. Just check your OneDrive folders to see if you can find your original files. It’s also worth trying to log in with different user credentials to see if that helps you get back your data.

It sounds like the laptop might be using the same user profile as the home PC. Without more details, I can't say for sure, but that could be the issue.

You might want to check if OneDrive automatically synced and moved your files. Look for a trash folder; sometimes files end up there when syncing issues occur. Also, if these devices are linked to a work domain, that could complicate things. Just make sure to visit OneDrive.com to see if your original files are still available there.

I checked OneDrive, but I couldn’t find anything useful. It looks like everything on my laptop was replaced by the PC’s stuff.
