Hey everyone! I'm having a weird issue with my laptop's webcam on Windows. It seems like some unknown software is accessing it, probably something shady, because I can't use my webcam in Discord, Chrome, Teams, or any other app. I've given all necessary permissions and even tried reinstalling the drivers, but nothing has worked. Does anyone have any ideas on how to track down this potential spy? I appreciate any help!

Have you tried running a full antivirus scan? Make sure you’ve granted permissions for the camera and mic to apps on your PC. I’d recommend checking by launching camera.exe. If you can see the webcam operating there but not in apps like Zoom, you might need to adjust your permissions.
First off, try running a malware scanner like Malwarebytes; it’s free and can catch a lot of things. Also, click the Windows icon on your taskbar, type "programs," and open 'Add or Remove Programs.' Scroll through the list to see if there’s anything unusual you don’t recognize—if you find something suspicious, go ahead and uninstall it. Also, check if there’s any webpage that might be using the camera.
How have you confirmed that there’s a spy involved? It’s possible the webcam itself is malfunctioning.
