Help! My Laptop Won’t Install Windows After a Reset

Okay, so here's the deal: I was resetting my laptop, but since I live in a dorm and there was a curfew, I had to abruptly stop the process and just shove it in my bag. Later, when I tried to reopen my laptop and continue the reset, I got stuck on this error message: "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click 'OK' to restart the computer, and then restart the installation." I clicked 'OK', but it just keeps bringing me back to the same screen every time. I'm really stressed about this because I know my parents are not going to be happy. I don't have any income of my own, as I rely on their allowance. I use Windows 11 on an MSI laptop. I also heard something about 'kick-starters'—if anyone has information on that, could it help me out?

You need to use another computer to make a bootable USB drive with Windows 11. That way, you can boot from it and reinstall Windows on your malfunctioning laptop.

It sounds like you might have messed up your system by stopping the reset in the middle of the process. You'll probably need to format your laptop and do a fresh install of Windows. It's not as scary as it sounds!

How do I actually perform a fresh install?

If you don't know how to make a bootable USB, here’s a guide that lays it out step-by-step: just grab an 8GB USB stick. It's a bit technical, but you can do it! Plus, if you're worried about losing data, you might want to create a bootable Live OS USB first. It runs off the USB and won't erase your data.

Thanks a ton, that really helps!
