I was just chilling in bed with my laptop when my cat decided to jump right on the keyboard. Suddenly, everything went black, and the laptop shut down completely. Now, I can't get it to turn back on, and the charging light isn't coming on at all. I'm totally confused about what happened and don't know what to do! I've tried everything I can think of. Any advice would be appreciated!

Another simple method is to remove the charger, hold down the power button for about 30 seconds, and then try to boot it back up. Did you notice any difference?
Unfortunately, there’s been no change at all. It’s like the laptop is completely dead; no sounds or lights when I try to power it on.
Try this: plug in the charger, then hold down the Power + D keys simultaneously. This can run a screen test on some Dell models. If you see colors on the screen, it means the laptop is still working, and the issue might just be with the display cable.

First, try plugging in the charger to see if that helps. Sometimes it just needs a power boost after a shutdown. If that doesn't work, try doing a hard reset. Disconnect the charger, take off the bottom cover, remove the battery (if possible), and hold the power button for 60 seconds. Then reconnect the charger and power on. While you’re at it, check that everything inside is connected tightly, especially the RAM sticks.
I appreciate the suggestion, but I'm kind of lost on how to open the bottom cover and do all that. Any chance you could guide me through it?
If you're able to power it on eventually, try the fn + f9 keys or just f9 alone to see if it can wake it up. I had a similar experience once and learned the hard way about keyboard issues!

If the cat jumped on it, maybe it damaged something like the motherboard. Just a thought!
