I'm having a frustrating issue with my new gaming PC, where the mouse input feels really choppy in every game I try. I've spent multiple weekends trying to troubleshoot this problem, and I'm at my wit's end. Here's a brief rundown of my build:
- 9800X3D CPU
- ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-A Motherboard
- Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM
- Samsung 990 Pro 4TB M.2 SSD
- Gigabyte RTX 5080 GPU
- Seasonic 1200W PSU
- Lian Li Case with Fans
- LG 4K OLED Monitor (32GS95UE-B)
No matter what settings I tweak or which games I play, the mouse movement is choppy, especially noticeable when panning the camera or moving around in the game space. I also see "texture jitter" at the screen edges, and these issues completely vanish when I switch to a controller, which makes me think the underlying mouse input path might be the real problem.
I've done a long list of tests, like swapping GPUs, changing cables, and optimizing settings in Windows 11. I even followed extensive troubleshooting guides, but nothing seems to help. I'm starting to suspect hardware issues, possibly with my CPU, motherboard compatibility, or even my electrical setup in my place. I'm open to any ideas or suggestions you all might have!

Have you tried plugging your mouse into different USB ports? I had weird problems with my motherboard where some ports would randomly disable my WiFi. It could be that particular ports on your board are acting up, and not the mouse itself.
First off, have you checked if you’re using the 12vhpwr connector for your GPU? I used an adapter before and had issues with USB stuttering during power fluctuations. Switching to the 12vhpwr made a huge difference for me.
Thanks for the tip! I appreciate it, but I’m already using the 12vhpwr connection.

I’ve moved the mouse around a bit, but maybe not every single port. If some ports are malfunctioning, I’d rather replace the board than deal with a faulty one!
