Hey everyone! I'm having a frustrating issue with my new desktop setup. Despite having high-end components like an RTX 4070Ti Super GPU and a RYZEN 7 7800X3D CPU, I'm experiencing stuttering and significant dips in frame rates (below 60 FPS) while gaming. This happens in every game I try, even though my overall FPS numbers are usually good. All my temperatures are normal, and I've done a lot of troubleshooting already: fresh installs of Windows, BIOS updates, driver updates, and even a complete rebuild of my system. I'm at my wit's end and am considering switching back to Intel for better stability. If anyone has insights or solutions, I'd really appreciate it!

Hey there! I’ve gone through your setup and troubleshooting steps, and I think I can help. Your 7800X3D is known to be sensitive to RAM settings, so here are a few suggestions:
1. **RAM Testing:** Try running your RAM at a lower speed (like 4800 MHz) just for testing. If that reduces the stuttering, you may need to tweak your EXPO profile or adjust your SOC voltage.
2. **Background Apps:** Make sure to close out LatencyMon and PresentMon. They can interfere with performance by constantly querying timers, leading to extra stutters.
3. **High Precision Event Timer (HPET):** If HPET is enabled, it can hurt your FPS. Try running `bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock` in your command prompt to disable it, then reboot.
4. **Power Settings:** Use the AMD High Performance or Balanced power plan in Windows, and set your NVIDIA Control Panel to ‘Prefer Maximum Performance’ to avoid idle states.
5. **Turn Off Unneeded Features:** Disable Game Bar, DVR, and HAGS as they’re known to cause issues in certain setups.
Don't give up on your setup yet! Your CPU is really good for gaming if fine-tuned.
Great tips TechWhiz99! I had a similar problem and disabling the Game Bar and HAGS made a huge difference for me.
I feel your pain! Just to add on to what TechWhiz99 said:
- **Memory Stability:** The RAM speed you have is great, but it might not be stable on the AM5 platform. If lowering it helps, you might want to look into fine-tuning the memory settings directly in your BIOS.
- **USB Power Management:** Check your power management settings for USB devices if you have random stutters; it can really mess things up. Using a 12VHPWR adapter helped me reduce some similar issues.
Keep exploring; you’ve got a beast of a rig!
Solid point! I've seen USB management cause unexpected stutters without anyone realizing.
Thanks for confirming that! I'll definitely keep an eye on these settings as well.

Thanks for the thorough reply! I’ll test out those suggestions and let you know how it goes!
