I've been on a real struggle since my PC crashed unexpectedly during a game. Over the past two weeks, I've gone through a new motherboard saga, running into issues with three different boards, the latest being an ASUS TUF Z790-PLUS WiFi. Now, I'm stuck again! One of the RAM slots isn't recognizing my memory sticks, showing a yellow light and failing to connect my keyboard. Using one stick in the far DIMM slot lets me bypass the RAM issue, but now I'm hit with more problems: my display won't connect at all. I see a solid white light and a yellow-green light – manual says it's a VGA issue and a BOOT issue. My GPU has worked perfectly for the past two years, my SSDs are fine, and my RAM tested okay. The only thing left might be a new 12vhpwr cable to hook my GPU up to the PSU. It's been two weeks and I really want to get back to gaming! Can anyone help me figure this out? My setup: i9-13900KF CPU, ZOTAC 4090 Trinity OC GPU, ASUS TUF Gaming Z790 Plus WiFi motherboard.

It’s possible that your CPU might be the problem here. Since you've had issues across multiple motherboards and your RAM is acting funny, it suggests that the CPU might be failing. If it's over a couple of years old, it could have degraded. Thankfully, Intel offers a 5-year warranty on their chips, so check that out. Also, you might want to test with a different PSU, as a surge could have weakened yours.
Have you looked at the 12vhp power connector on the PSU side? Sometimes they can melt or get damaged, which could lead to issues like this.
Have you checked if your processor has integrated graphics? If it does, try connecting your monitor directly to the motherboard to see if that helps. It could help you bypass the GPU issue temporarily.
I added the CPU info to my post – unfortunately, mine doesn’t have integrated graphics, so I can’t see anything on the monitor without the GPU.
This is why I always make sure to get a CPU with an integrated GPU! I had a GPU fail once, and playing games on my iGPU kept me going until I could get a replacement.

I checked it out and there’s no visible damage on either side of the plugs, but it’s been bent at a strange angle for over a year. I’m hoping that just getting a new cable will fix everything.
