Help! My New PC Build Won’t Start – What Am I Missing?

I'm having trouble getting my new PC build to power on and display the BIOS screen. I recently replaced my old motherboard, which might have been faulty, and assembled everything this morning, but despite my troubleshooting, there's no sign of life.

Here's what I'm working with:
- Intel i5-12600KF CPU
- ASUS B760M motherboard
- 4x Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM
- 2 SSDs (currently only the OS SSD is connected)

I started with the stock Intel CPU cooler, but plan to upgrade to a more robust Cooler Master setup later. I also have a couple of old AMD 580 graphics cards I was going to use temporarily, but I'm testing with the onboard video first to keep it simple. The motherboard and CPU are brand new, while the RAM and SSD are leftovers from an old system that I tried upgrading to Windows 11 unsuccessfully last year.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I've already tried:
1. Tried booting with all RAM sticks, then one at a time in different slots.
2. Used two different power supplies I know are working.
3. Reduced connected devices to a bare minimum (only one DIMM and no GPU or additional SSD).

Despite these efforts, there's still no change in behavior. The monitor and receiver detect a signal when I press the power button, but it doesn't go beyond that. I haven't heard any beeps or seen LEDs indicating issues, and I can't find the CMOS battery on this microATX board.

What else could I be missing here? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Also, just a heads up that if you're planning to upgrade to the i7-14700, you might need a BIOS update to support it. You can’t just swap out the CPUs without doing the update first unless the current CPU is supported by the existing BIOS. So that might be something to keep in mind if you haven't checked the BIOS version yet.

It looks like the i5-12600KF doesn’t have integrated graphics, which means you should definitely plug in a dedicated GPU to get any video output. That's likely the reason you're not seeing anything on the screen right now.

Ah, good catch! I'll definitely try that. Thanks for clarifying!

Double-check that your motherboard is indeed the DDR4 version; it can be easy to mix that up. If you bought it specifically for DDR4, it should be fine, but it’s worth confirming just to eliminate that as a potential issue. You can find the specs online to make sure you got the right model.

I checked, and it looks like you have the right one. Just make sure all your connections are tight!
