Help! My New PC is Buzzing Through My Headset!

Hey everyone! I'm a total newbie at PC building and just completed my first build after having a prebuilt for seven years. However, I'm facing an annoying issue: my PC buzzes loudly under heavy load, which I think might be coil whine. I'm using an RTX 5070 and a Corsair RM750e PSU. I even linked a video of the sound, it's pretty intense and can be heard from outside the room when I'm gaming on high settings. Plus, the buzzing gets transmitted through the left speaker of my headset, though it's quieter. The noise stops briefly when I pause the game or adjust the settings. My PC is plugged into a power strip (is that the right term?), so I'm curious if that's part of the problem. I tried different power strips, but that didn't help. I haven't plugged it directly into the wall since it's a hassle to move everything. My last PC was set up like this too, and there were no issues. So, how can I identify the source of this buzzing noise, and what can I do to fix it? If the GPU or PSU is to blame, will switching to different ones help reduce coil whine?

To figure out which part is causing the buzzing, get close and listen carefully. If you can isolate the noise to a specific component, you can decide whether to replace it or just wait it out. Sometimes a PSU can cause whine in other parts too. If it turns out to be the GPU, and you’re feeling bold, you could open it up and try using thermal epoxy or hot glue on the inductors. Another option is to undervolt your GPU, which might help reduce the noise.

You might want to check the GPU specifically since many of these buzzing issues come from it. If it’s hard to pinpoint the noise, consider different methods like listening carefully while it’s under load. A GPU can cause feedback in headsets, and changing game settings may temporarily affect the whine. If you find it’s the GPU for sure, returning it for a different 5070 could definitely be worth considering.
