Help! My New PC Won’t Send a Signal to the Monitor via HDMI

I'm in the process of upgrading my old PC and have replaced almost everything: new case, motherboard, CPU, GPU, the works! But I'm stuck with a frustrating problem—no signal from the HDMI to my monitor. It's not working with either the motherboard or the GPU, even though the HDMI cable works with other devices. After a long struggle just to get the PC to turn on, I really want to figure out this HDMI issue so I can dive back into playing my favorite games like X-Com and Sims 4. I've watched several YouTube videos, but they haven't helped. What should I do next?

First off, it's great to hear you're building your PC! From what you mentioned, it sounds like your components are getting power since the fans and lights are working. Have you made sure that the HDMI cable is fully plugged in on both ends and maybe tried a different cable or port? Sometimes the ports can be finicky. If that doesn't help, you might want to try resetting the CMOS on your motherboard—it can sometimes resolve these types of signal issues.

It would be really helpful to see a list of your components. Knowing what motherboard, GPU, and RAM you’re using can narrow down the problem. For example, not all RAM is universally compatible, and sometimes BIOS settings need adjusting. Also, make sure the RAM sticks are properly seated; even if you moved them around, they might need a bit more jiggling to fit snugly.

Looking at your specs helps! If you're using an ASRock B450 motherboard, it should support your Ryzen CPU. Just double-check everything is seated correctly, especially that the GPU is fully inserted into the PCIe slot. Also, if you have integrated graphics on your CPU, try connecting the monitor directly to the motherboard to see if it outputs a signal that way.
