I'm in the middle of swapping out my power supply unit (PSU) and graphics processing unit (GPU), but I've run into an issue with the CPU cables. The new CPU cables don't match the standard 8-pin (4+4) configuration of my old PSU, and I'm feeling a bit stuck. Here's the situation:
The old cable's pin layout was:
- Clip side up:
- Circle, square, square, circle
- Square, circle, circle, square
However, my new cable for the new PSU looks like this:
- Clip side up:
- Circle, square, circle, circle
- Square, circle, circle, circle
Even though the new cable separates into two 2+2s, I just can't seem to get it to match the old layout. I checked that I'm using the correct side for the motherboard, and it's labeled as CPU, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm a bit worried that I may have received a cable that's labeled incorrectly. For reference, my PSU is a Leadex III ATX 3.1 1300W, and my motherboard is a B650 Tomahawk WiFi. It's okay if a circular pin fits into a square hole, as long as everything fits tightly without forcing it. If you can plug it in without any issues, it should be fine!

I guess I'm a bit concerned about the different shapes. I always thought they should match the documentation, and I've never seen CPU cables that didn't align with the standard layout. Why is this one different?
