I just upgraded from my old 3060 to a new PNY RTX 5070, but when I plugged it in, I'm getting no response at all. The fans don't spin, and there's no picture. I thought upgrading GPUs was usually straightforward, just plug it in and update drivers afterwards. Am I missing something, or is it likely that the card is faulty? I've checked everything I could think of – all the cables are connected, and the GPU is seated properly. I even tested the old GPU with the same power connector to rule that out. Could it be an issue with the 12-pin adapter or is my GPU just dead?

Have you tried connecting it to a different power supply? It could really help to check with one that has a native 12VHPWR cable if you have access to one.
If returning it is an option, you should definitely do that. Otherwise, try testing it in a friend’s PC or at a repair shop. If it’s still not working, it might be a dead-on-arrival card, especially with those 12VHPWR connectors from Nvidia being unreliable.

Unfortunately, I built my PC back in 2020, so my power supply doesn’t have the new connectors.
