Hey everyone, I'm having a weird issue with my PC. Out of nowhere, my mouse started freezing every few seconds, and when I try to type, the letters are spamming. For example, when I type 'a', it keeps going with 'aaaaaaa' for a while. I was concerned it might be malware, so I rebooted into safe mode, but the problems continued. I attempted to check for viruses, but when I opened Windows Defender, the page was blank except for 'Security at a glance'. I tried running a full scan with Malwarebytes, and while that was going, the mouse stopped freezing. However, I had to pause the scan after 4 hours because it was getting late, and as soon as I stopped it, the freezing and spamming returned. I switched off the PC and unplugged it completely. I'm really at a loss here and would appreciate any suggestions!

You might want to boot into the Windows recovery environment next time and try running the Microsoft Defender offline scan. You can get to it through Windows Security under scan options. If that doesn't help, consider starting a scan from the command prompt. But before going to a full reinstall, look up how to perform a Windows repair install. It's simpler than it sounds!
First up, if you're seeing issues like this, it's a good idea to consider a clean reinstall of Windows. You can also try running malware checks with Malwarebytes and Avira to catch anything sneaky. If you find any malware, get rid of that before reinstalling Windows again. That might sort out your problem!
I managed to run a full scan on Windows Defender and nothing showed up. Does that mean my PC is in the clear?
