Last night, my PC suddenly went dark while I was away for a few minutes. Now, there's a black screen with no signs of life—fans are off, but the mic/speaker turn on and the motherboard LEDs are lit up. I've already tried a few things to fix it:
- Power cycling the PC and leaving it unplugged overnight.
- Disconnecting all peripherals and leaving just the CPU, cooler, and power supply connected.
- Plugging the HDMI into the motherboard instead of the GPU.
- Resetting the CMOS.
I'm out of ideas! What else can I try?

Have you thought about removing one of the RAM sticks? Sometimes, a faulty stick can keep the system from booting up. Also, is there any display appearing on your screen at all? If you’re still getting nothing, it might be an issue with the motherboard or power supply, or even the video card if you have one.
Did you remove all hard drives, and peripherals? It might help to disconnect everything, including mouse, keyboard, and any case fans. Also, what's the model of your motherboard and CPU?
Have you considered booting the PC by shorting the power pins on the motherboard? That might help get it started. If that doesn’t work, it could be time to reset the whole motherboard too.
