Hey everyone! I'm having some serious issues with my PC's WiFi connection after moving into a new condo. I signed up for a 3gbps internet plan, and when I tested the speed on my phone, it showed over 1gbps for both download and upload. However, when I tried gaming on my PC, the ping was awful, making it almost unplayable. The router is about 50 feet away in another room, which I don't think should cause my speeds to drop to 30mbps. I'm starting to wonder if my network drivers might be the issue, even though I've attempted a few fixes I found online with no luck. Any advice on what I can do to improve this situation?

It sounds like distance and barriers could really be affecting your connection. The 5GHz band struggles over 50 feet, especially with walls in the way, while the 2.4GHz band has a longer range but is slower. If you can, try to run an Ethernet cable directly to your PC for the best speeds. It could really help!
Thanks for the info! I'll see if I can get closer to the router and test the connection speed again.
If you go for access points, you'll definitely need Ethernet to connect them for optimal performance. WiFi boosters can be hit-or-miss, though. I'd recommend investing in a decent one if you want it to actually work instead of wasting money on cheap options.
Have you considered powerline adapters? They use your home’s electrical wiring to transmit the internet signal. Sometimes they can be finicky and need a reboot, but they can work really well. Just make sure to get a passthrough option to save an outlet.
Quick question for you, would adding WiFi extender pods help with my setup, or should I just stick to a cable?
