Help! My PC Keeps Freezing After RAM Upgrade

I'm having a frustrating issue with my PC freezing randomly since I upgraded my RAM from 32GB to 64GB. Everything boots up and runs well, but out of nowhere, it just freezes. The weird part is that the freeze immediately resolves when I open a new program. I've been troubleshooting for a while and have already tried several steps without any success. Here are the specs of my rig: I'm using an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU on an ASUS PRIME B650M-A AX6 II motherboard, with TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB DDR5 64GB (2x32GB) RAM, which runs at 6000MHz. Before this, I had Team Group UD5-6000 32GB (2x16GB) RAM, also clocked at 6000MHz. Other components include an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, a 1TB NVMe Gen4 primary hard drive, a 4TB Crucial P3 Plus PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD for storage, and an 850W GOLD ATX 3.0 power supply. My CPU cooler is a 360mm ARGB AIO liquid cooler, and I'm using Windows 11.

In terms of troubleshooting, I've made sure the new RAM is seated correctly, run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool, checked compatibility with the motherboard, tried different RAM configurations, toggled EXPO settings in the BIOS, manually adjusted speeds, tested each RAM stick individually, and updated my BIOS and drivers. I'm hitting a wall and could use any suggestions to resolve this issue!

Have you tried the DISM checklist? It's not a guarantee to fix your issue, but it’s quick and might help. Also, check your Event Manager for any error messages that coincide with the freezes. It could give you some clues on what's going wrong.

Great idea! I ran the DISM commands and it was all good. I also checked Event Manager, but didn't find anything suspicious. I'm considering the CL30 kit idea since it might alleviate pressure on the memory controller.

It sounds like a classic case of something else interfering. I had a similar issue where my old HDD would go to sleep and cause the system to freeze. Even if you don't have a mechanical HDD, check your power settings to ensure your NVMe SSDs aren’t set to turn off after a period of inactivity.

That's smart! I don't have a mechanical HDD either, but I’m wondering if the timings on those RAM sticks are stressing the memory controller. Someone suggested trying a CL30 kit instead. Could be worth exploring!

I totally get that! I used to have that issue too with my older setup. Just opening Explorer would wake the drive and resolve the freeze. Make sure 'Turn off hard disk after' is set to 0 in your power settings, just like you mentioned.
