Help! My PC Keeps Freezing and Restarting Randomly

I'm having a frustrating problem with my PC where it randomly freezes and restarts. I'm running Windows 11 version 24h2. The last time it happened, I didn't even have my GPU overclocked, which makes me think the graphics card might be the culprit. Previously, I'd noticed similar freezing, but that seemed to go away when I moved my PC from my desk to the floor, possibly due to vibrations. I figured out that my RTX 3060 was causing the issues since when I swapped it for a Titan XP, the random restarts stopped. Before, I was getting blue screens frequently, but now it's just freezing and restarting. I've also recently started playing DooM: The Dark Ages, so I'm wondering if that's relevant. Any advice would be appreciated!

Based on the symptoms you're describing, it could likely be caused by several things, including malware, power supply issues, or overheating. First, check your CPU temperatures to make sure it isn’t overheating. Also, verify that your power supply has enough wattage for your setup. Check all your cables and RAM slots to ensure everything is plugged in correctly. I recommend updating your graphics drivers too. If all else fails, a malware scan could be worth it!

Since you mentioned that swapping out the GPU cleared up the issues, there’s a good chance that might be your problem. However, don't rule out other hardware issues just yet. It could be a power supply issue if your PSU isn't giving enough juice. Also, if you haven't already, do a malware check just to be safe. Sometimes those sneaky programs can cause havoc without you even realizing it!

It sounds like you might need to gather some dump files to analyze what’s causing the crashes during those restarts. If you can boot into Windows, check the C:WindowsMinidump folder for any crash logs. Zip up the files and upload them to a file-sharing site that works, like catbox.moe. Multiple dump files can help diagnose your issue more accurately! If you haven't set the dump type to Small Memory Dump yet, consider doing that too. It could provide the details you need to pinpoint the problem.
