Help! My PC Restarts When I Launch Any Game

I've just built my first PC with the help of my boyfriend, who's pretty experienced in building. However, I'm running into a major issue: every time I try to launch a game, my PC restarts itself. It's running Windows 10 and has a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU, a SeaSonic 550 Gold Plus GPU, and an MSI B450 motherboard. I'm not sure what other specs to mention. The Event Viewer shows an error stating, 'a fatal hardware error has occurred reported by component processor core. Error source: machine check exception error type: bus/interconnect error.' We've tried plenty of fixes from different posts, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks in advance!

You might be running into a driver issue, especially if the restarts happen when launching games. Start by checking your graphics card driver, but don’t forget about the chipset and other motherboard drivers—make sure all are updated. It's worth revisiting this since sometimes updates can crash midway.

It sounds like you might have a hardware issue, particularly with the CPU or motherboard common in Ryzen setups. First off, make sure your B450 motherboard's BIOS is updated. If it's up to date, try resetting the BIOS to default settings and turning off any overclocking features like XMP or PBO. It’s also worth checking the CPU for any pin damage. If the PC keeps crashing under load, you might be dealing with a faulty CPU or an unstable motherboard instead of a Windows issue or power supply.

Could be overheating. If your system doesn’t get enough load until a game starts, it might crash due to heat. Consider updating the BIOS if it’s outdated or try a fresh install of Windows 11 later, but that can be more of a last resort. There’s also a chance your power supply could be failing—a smart move would be to check the RAM by testing one stick at a time. If possible, try swapping in a newer Ryzen CPU to see if that changes anything. And don't forget to firmly seat the GPU and update its drivers!
